Privacy Policy

Splitz is a tool for splitting shared expenses between people who already know each other. This policy explains what it stores and why. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

What is collected

• Your account — the name you choose, your email address, and a password that is stored only as a cryptographic hash. We never see your password.
• What you put in the app — tabs, expenses, amounts, who paid, receipts you photograph, notes you write, and payments you record.
• Who you share with — the people on your tabs and bills, and your friends list.
• Payment usernames — your Venmo or Cash App username, if you choose to add one, so people can pay you. These are visible to people you share a tab with.

What is not collected

• Card numbers, bank details, or any payment credentials. Splitz never moves money. When you tap "Venmo", it hands off to that app and the payment happens there.
• Your location.
• Your contacts.
• Advertising identifiers. There are no ads and no third-party trackers.

Who can see your data

Only the people you share something with. Access rules are enforced inside the database itself, not merely in the app, so someone who is not on your tab cannot read it even if they go looking.

Who it is shared with

Nobody. Your data is not sold, rented, or handed to advertisers. It is stored with Supabase, which hosts the database on our behalf. Receipt photographs, when you scan one, are sent to a receipt-reading service to extract line items, and are not retained by them for training.

Deleting your account

Email hello@splitz.biz and your account and everything in it will be deleted. Expenses you added to a shared tab may remain visible to the other people on that tab, because they are part of their record of what was owed.

Children

Splitz is not intended for anyone under 13.
